Al Rickert of Overland Park ran away with the low
honors at the StateLine Amateur Tour event at Milburn Golf & Country
Club today. Rickert used four birdies on the back nine in
route to his 4-under par 68 performance. A distant second to
Rickert was Jon Platz who carded a 1-over par 73.
In the Senior Open Division Andy Smith of Gladstone
shot an even par 72 to take top honors. Tom Leonard garnered
second place with a 2-over 74.
Milburn member James Isleib of Leawood and David
Kirshbaum of Kansas City tied for top honors in the Players Division
gross scoring with 3-over par 75's. In net scoring Ritch Nigh
of Kansas City shot a 2-under par 70 for first place. Nigh's
score was good enough to edge out both gross scoring champions and
Ben Overman by two strokes.
In Legends Division action, Ron Brewer of Leawood
carded a 3-over par 75 to beat out Tim Jackson by a stroke.
Marty Story's net score of 3-under par 69 won by two strokes over
second place finishers Jackson, Craig Jorgensen, and Len Holthaus.
The next StateLine Amateur Tour
event is on Thursday, August 28 at The Golf Club at Creekmoor.
The event at Creekmoor, along with the final event of the year at
Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate on Thursday, September 18 are both
sold out. The last remaining event of the season that is not
sold out is on Saturday, September 18 at Shirkey Golf Club.
