The overall goal of the KCJT is to provide
all junior amateurs an opportunity to play competition regardless of
skill while focusing on teaching them “Respect FORE the Game.”
The KC Junior Tour had another successful day out
at Claycrest Golf Club. The tight race for medalist honors in the
Champions Division was won by Derek Martinez of Kansas City who
shot a round of 75 to just edge out his fellow competitors. Carolyn
Schorgl of Leawood earned medalist honors in the girl's flight with
a 77, just one ahead of Lauren Miles of St. Joseph. Austin
Johnson of Bucyrus won the 14-15 boy's flight with a 77 while Francie
Reintjes of Shawnee earned medalist honors for the girl's flight
with a 86. Other top finishers in the 14-15 boy's flight was John
Harrison of Prairie Village and Colby Yates of Tonganoxie taking
second place honors shooting 81 followed by Cody Bonebrake of Olathe
with an 84. In the girl’s flight, Katie Morel of Overland
Park shot a 91 earning her second place honors, while third place
was won by Endsley Evans of Liberty with a score of 100. The older
division top finishers were Brandon Bowman of Parkville and Robert
Newman of Kearney taking second with scores of 76. Brice Harrison
of Prairie Village and Logan Gilliland of Chillicothe finished off
the top three with a score of 77. The third place honors for the
girl’s flight was earned by Jill Stuckenschneider of Leawood
shooting a total of 92.
The next Champions Division event is at Hillcrest
Country Club on July 1. Currently the field is full, but walk-ups
will be taken in case of no-shows or late cancelations.
