Swinford Shoots 72 to Take Medalist Honors at The Country Club
of Blue Springs
The KC Junior Tour had another successful day
on the links out at The Country Club of Blue Springs. The Champions
Division started off the day at 8 a.m. and with the course being wet
and playing long it didn’t seem to affect the players too much. In
the 16-18 Boys Division Derek Swinford of Liberty led the field with
an even par 72 followed by another great score of 73 by Brice
Harrison of Prairie Village. Taking third place honors were five
individuals all shooting a score of 79; Anthony Spalitto of Lee’s
Summit, Chris Reinert of Parkville, Eric Johnston of Mission, KS,
Taylor Griffin of Richmond, and Jacob Burkholder of Sedalia. In the
16-18 Girls Division, Allison Forristal of Overland Park took
medalist honors with an 81 followed by Morgan Lamberson of
Marshall. The third place honors were given to Amy McGiffen of
Liberty shooting an 87. In the 14-15 Boys Division John Harrison of
Prairie Village edged out his nearest competitor with a 78. Colby
Yates of Tonganoxie was right behind him with a 79 followed by Adam
Cummings of Clinton with a score of 80. Katie Morel of Overland
Park took the medalist honors for the 14-15 age division shooting a
round of 85. She was followed by Libby Kellogg, also from Overland
Park, shooting an 89 and Brooke LaRue of Topeka shooting a score of
90.
