There is no official practice round for the Championship.

Swope Memorial Golf Course

Swope Memorial is offering a special rate of $18 anytime between now and the Championship.  To make a startig time, please call the Golf Shop at (816) 513-8910.

Bonus Round

Due to the change of venue for the championship's qualifing rounds, the costs per player were lower than what was budgeted.  As a result, the Executive Committee of the KCGA felt it was important to pass on the cost savings to the players.  Thus in cooperation with Swope Memorial, we are pleased to announce each player in the field will recieve a bonus round of golf which includes a cart.  This bonus round is good anytime until Decemember 31, 2008.  The Bonus round may be used before the championship, however if you do please make sure to tell the golf shop when checking in the day of your ound.  Players who do not use their bonus round before the championship will recived a certificate at the scoring table when returning their scorecard for the first round.

Groupings & Starting Times

First Round - 7:00 a.m. starting times from No. 1 only

Second Round - 7:00 a.m. starting times from No. 1 only (see note below)

Championship Round - 8:00 a.m. starting times from No. 1 only (see note below)

NOTE:  Players will be grouped and assigned times based on their first round gross score, with highest scores assigned the earlier times. Groupings and starting times will be available approximately 1 hour after the last score is posted. To obtain your time, log onto www.kansascitygolfer.org. Please do not call Swope Memorial or Blue Hills, they will not have this information.

Practice Range

Qualifying Rounds

Swope Memorial does not have a practice range onsite.  The range for the Championship is at Heart of America Golf Course (formerly Blue River) located at 7501 Blue River Road.  The range is approximately 5 mintues from Swope so please plan accordingly for your starting time.  The practice range will be setup for contestants one hour before the first starting time each day and  is complimentary for contestants before their round.

Championship Round (Blue Hills CC)

The practice range will open at 7:00 and is complimentary for contestants before their round.

Fitness Tent

Elite Golf & Fitness will be available each day of the championship to provide stretching services to the players. This service is complimentary of Elite Golf & Fitness. Food & Beverage

A lunch buffet is provided each day of the championship and is included as part of the entry fee.  The buffet is available only to players.  Additional food and beverage purchases are the competitor’s responsibility.

General Information

The Rules of the United States Golf Association govern play. This information sheet, the KCGA Rules hard card and any site-specific Local Rules and Conditions of Competition sheets are supplements to the Rules of Golf. Local Rules of the host course do not apply. The KCGA Rules and Competitions Committee, whose decision is final, shall settle all questions. Reference to the Rules and Appendix I may be found in the 2008-09 Rules of Golf book. Unless otherwise noted, the penalty for breach of a Local Rule or Condition is two strokes.

Pace of Play

Pace of Play is a Rule of Golf and all players are expected to play without dealy.  This championship uses the Check Point System. As a group you are responsible to finish each check-point within then allotted time par or within 14 minutes of the group in front of you. When you finish No. 9 and No. 18 you are required to record the official time on the scorecard that is on the time clock located at the putting green. If you finish more than the allotted time par and are more than 14 minutes behind the group in front of you, each person in the group is liable to penalty.  All check-point violoations are reviewed at the scoring area after the group has concluded play.  If the Committee deems the group was responsible for the check-point violation, each player in the group has a right to apply the penalty.  The Committe will listen to each play and make a determination if the appeal is granted or deined.  The Committees decision shall be final!  To review the complete Pace of Play Guidelines and Procedures check here.

Transportation

The use of golf carts for this competition is permissible and at the option of the player. The fees are included in the entry.

Caddies

Caddies are permitted for this competition. Please make your own arrangements for a caddie.

Communication Devices

The use of telecommunication equipment is prohibited during the stipulated rounds.

Distance-Measuring Devices

Distance-Measuring Devices that measure distance only are permitted for this championship.

Format

54 holes stroke play with a cut after 36 holes in each flight. Number of players to make the cut will vary based upon number of entries in each flight.

Cut Information

A cut will be made after 36 holes in each flight. Those making the cut will advance to the championship round . The following is the number the field will be cut to in each flight.

Open 27 plus ties
Senior Open 15 plus ties
Players 8 gross/net plus ties*
Legends 6 gross/net plus ties*

* If a player qualifies for gross and net, they count in the number making the cut for gross and net.

Play-off

In the event of a tie for the Open Championship the players concerned shall compete in a hole-by-hole play-off starting immediately after the Committee has verified results and announced the play-off at the scoreboard.

Withdrawals

A player is required to immediately notify the KCGA if they need to withdraw from a competition via the withdraw webpage.  If internet acces is not available then withdraw via phone. Failure to notify the KCGA is subject to a one-year suspension from KCGA events. If you need to withdraw any time after 5:00 on July 11, please call (913) 484-1844. This is a KCGA mobile phone. If you get the voice mail, please leave a message.

Attire & Conduct

Proper golf attire is required. blue jeans, designer jeans, tee shirts, and tank tops are prohibited. Shorts must be at least mid-thigh in length. The course is a spike-less facility. Any act of unsportsmanlike conduct, including the use of obscene or abusive language, may be cause for disqualification.

Awards

The champion and runner-up of each flight receives a symbolic trophy. In addition, the KCGA is providing a prize pool of $5,000.

Close of Competition

The competition shall be deemed to have closed when the symbolic prize for the event has been presented.
